 INDECISIVE? WELCOME TO THE CLUB..

How do you call a person who is struggling to make even a simple decision? Some one who is staring at the menu in the restaurant, the waiter is waiting (that’s his job anyway)and our person can not make up his mind what appetizer he wants for 30 min or so. Frustrating for everyone involved.

 Indecisive? What a surprise

These people I call INDECISIVE- but hold on, I’m one of them as well from time to time! I have to admit that -and who is not? Sometimes I am probably the most indecisive person in the entire world! These particular times I really can make a decision if it was to save my life.

Maybe it is because I feel the need to debate for hours in my head over the pros and cons, and different options arrive and depart in my head like the airplanes at Hartsfield Airport in Atlanta or maybe the decision making really isn't that hard as it looks like.

But it really becomes a problem when we start talking about serious things like career, marriage, buying a home, going on a vacation or in general making a decision that may change your life a lot. My favorite decision killers:

Should I stay at this job or not? Should I quit?

Should I marry/date this person or not?

Should I leave/be with this person at all or not?

Should I buy this house or not? Rent a place may be?

Should I start this school or not? Or another one? Should I go to school at all?

Should I go on this vacation or not? Or better stay at home

Should I have sex with him/her or not?

Should I make this phone call or not?

Let me call my mom and see what she says...????

I'm sure that you are familiar with similar situations. The questions is not if they'll ever arise, but I how long I'll stay in the "no decision" situation. The longer the worse!

I'm not saying that you should be impulsive and you should walk way of your secure 20 years old job which you hate tomorrow to pursue the career of an actor just because you like it! The truth is that every single situation is  different for different people.

10 Signs that You really need a Career Decision- SOON!

When it comes to a Career, let me share with you 10 signs when you really need to make a Career Decision very SOON:

   Your outgo exceeds your income.

The most rewarding thing you did this week was sharpen all twelve of your pencils to the same length.

You are reluctant to be a Career Day speaker at your kid’s fourth- grade class.

Everyone in your work group got a raise, except you.

Your friends all have jobs that sound more interesting than yours.

You were late for work 3 times this week, but you just don’t care.

There is a meeting at 3:00 to talk about the upcoming reorganization and you are not invited.

Your boss keeps forgetting your name.

You constantly daydream about being a forest ranger or wind surfer.

Your company was recently acquired and you spent 2 weeks worrying that you’d be laid off. After that you worried that you wouldn’t be.

The Decision Making Process- Made Easy!

Now let’s break down the decision making process (that you’ll going through)- it is a cognitive process of selecting a course of action from among multiple alternatives has the following elements: Benefits of the action – Risk in the action- Alternatives to the prospective action or Nothing- that is doing nothing at all.

Too complicated- forget about it. We’ll do it the simple way. When facing a decision, no matter what I would suggest to do the following things:

 1. List all alternatives that you have. Even if you think that you have only 2 or 3, force yourself to look and find out at least 22 alternative variations of this particular problem/situation. You’ll see how many options you have and you even don’t know that.

 2. Out of these choose now 2 or 3 that FEEL good. I did not say THINK, but FEEL.

 3. Write down what’s the worst thing that may happen to you if you choose one or another alternative- what risks you are taking.

 4. Know that there is NO “wrong decision” never ever! Every time I go back to my past and look at different decisions I took back then and I thought they are wrong at that time- guess what- sooner or later they took me to some of the nicest things ever happened to me.

 5. Look at the things that are happening easy. I know it may sound very “holistic” and “spiritual” and I’m not saying that there will be no challenges, but you know sometimes how the things are happening effortlessly, just flowing and arranging themselves- with right people, at the right time, at the right circumstances.

Look for those signs and you are on the right track-just be aware of what’s happening to you!

 6. Once you’ve made a decision- don’t go back to rethink again “But what if I took the other decision?” There is no need for that- it’s DONE!

 7. Sometimes you just have to jump- and now comes the Faith- Faith grows when you act without knowing the end result- but believing that it will be the best for you, even if you don't see it right now.
